Our (7 yr old's) take on... Toy Story 4

Our (7 yr old's) take on... Toy Story 4

The “Toy Story” trilogy is probably the most beloved of the entire Pixar back catalogue. Now, nine years removed from what was probably the most perfect ending to a trilogy since Indiana Jones and his crew rode off into the sunset, Pixar have decided that it is time for the crew of Woody, Buzz, and all the rest of the gang to make one last appearance.

In this film, we are reunited with the gang as they adjust to life with Bonnie, last seen at the end of “Toy Story 3” when Andy hands over his toys to her. When a road trip with Bonnie’s family goes somewhat awry, the team are reunited with Bo Peep (who we haven’t seen since “Toy Story 2”) who has undergone a huge change in personality since they last met. In addition, we meet a new character named Forky, a plastic fork with play-doh features, who is going through a bit of a crisis because he’s not sure if he’s a toy or just trash.

Full disclosure; I haven’t seen this film yet. My seven year old, however, has. So instead of just flub my way through on something I haven’t seen, I decided I would ask her instead.

What did you think of the film?

I thought it was really good. Brilliant, actually. I really liked the jokes and the funny characters and the story was really good too.

Who was your favourite character?

It was lots of fun to see the old characters again, but my favourites were Ducky and Bunny. They’re new in this movie and Buzz meets them at the fun fair and they’re so funny.

And what about Forky?

He was really cool because he was so different to the other toys because he’s made by Bonnie.

Bo Peep is very different in this one from the other films too, isn’t she?

Yeah, because in the other ones she doesn’t do a lot except just wait around and look after her sheep. In this one she’s different even though she still has the sheep but what she does now is try to help lost toys find their owners or find new owners.

After seeing this one, which Toy Story movie is your favourite?

This one is the best one! I loved it.

So there you have it. “The best one”, according to one viewer. Find out for yourself this Friday the 18th of October when the film is released on DVDBlu-Ray, 3D and 4K UHD at goldendiscs.ie and all Golden Discs stores nationwide.

These are the incredibly honest words of our man Kevin Dillon (@kevinwritestuff) and the even truer and unfettered thoughts of our youngest ever film critic; Lilliana.

(Thank you Lilliana.)
