I feel like we all have situational album’s, when we’re feeling down, getting ready to hit the town, BBQ anthems or Sunday morning Favourites. For me Sunday mornings mean only one album and that’s David Bowie’s ‘Hunky Dory’.

Released in December of ’71 through RCA this is Bowie’s Fourth studio album and although it would take me another 30 years to discover it, partly in fault to me not being born, partly to my childhood home being a Dylan house, but once it entered my world it never left.

In my humble opinion and according to a lot of top 100 album lists this is Bowie’s best album. I guess it’s an effortless album to dismiss as it almost falls into the easy-listening category but what shines through for me is the spectacular skill Bowie has with lyrics.

As Ziggy entered the scene with Bowie’s next album ‘Hunky Dory’ is an obvious album to skip over but if you’re looking for a new classic album to add to your playlist I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Stand out tracks for me honestly it’s a start to finish great album but if you want a taste check out the two singles ‘Changes’ & ‘Life on Mars'.
